During this period of growth, the child is under care of the parent and the teacher. The training of the teacher as a caregiver should prepare and equip the teacher with the vocational and practical knowledge and skills to ensure the expected all-round development of the child. This work analyses the ECDE policy, programmes and ECDE teacher training in Kenya to find out their effectiveness towards achieving holistic development as a central goal of ECDE.
