Uwe Skrzypczak, geboren 1958, ist leidenschaftlicher Fotograf und Buchautor. Er beschäftigt sich seit seiner Kindheit mit der Fotografie. Bis Anfang der neunziger Jahre betrieb er ein Fotofachlabor und kennt daher alle »nassen« fotografischen Entwicklungs- und Verarbeitungsverfahren aus dem »Effeff«. Mit dem Aufkommen der digitalen Bildverarbeitung stellte er seinen Betrieb sofort darauf um. Heute hauptberuflich in Marketing und Werbung tätig, gehört die digitale Bildverarbeitung zu seinem täglichen Job.
Aktuell verlagert er seinen beruflichen Schwerpunkt immer mehr auf die Fotografie und auf Buchproduktionen.Die Fotografie war für Uwe Skrzypczak, trotz vieler Nächte in der Dunkelkammer, Leidenschaft und Entspannung zugleich. Schwerpunkt war immer die Architektur- und Archäologiefotografie, bis er Ende der neunziger Jahre per Zufall in Kenia gelandet ist. Seitdem lässt ihn Afrika nicht mehr los. Nach ersten Gehversuchen in der Wildlife-Fotografie, noch mit seiner 6 x 7 Architektur-Kameraausrüstung, hat er sich intensiv mit der notwendigen Kamera- und Aufnahmetechnik für dieses fotografische Genre beschäftigt. Schnell wurde ihm dabei klar, dass das Wissen über Habitat und Tierverhalten im Fotoaufnahmegebiet das »wichtigste Werkzeug« eines Wildlife-Fotografen ist. Der Rest ist für ihn, neben dem »fotografischen Auge«, Metall, Glas, Elektronik und handwerkliches Können, das fast jeder erlernen kann.
In den letzten Jahren lag das Hauptaugenmerk seiner fotografischen Arbeiten auf den Tierwanderzyklen im Serengeti-Ökosystem. Stilistisch hat bei ihm die Reportage- und Dokumentationsfotografie Vorrang, um die Abläufe in der Natur in seinen Büchern möglichst schlüssig darzustellen.Uwe Skrzypczak, der bereits einige Fotowettbewerbe gewinnen konnte, führt regelmäßig Wildlife Workshops in der Massai Mara durch.
