Filled with detail from numerous French sources and written in a light style, it provides a complete look at the campaign whilst keeping the narrative to a reasonable length. There is also an occasional flash of wit - usually missing from French accounts, substituted instead with accusation and counter accusation - which makes the book a real joy to read.
