Autoren-Porträt von Ingrid Wood
Ingrid Wood née Görgen was born in 1950 in Neumagen, a village in Germany's beautiful Mosel valley. She shared the old family home with six adults and eventually three younger siblings. In 1955, Ingrid's parents took their four children to live in Oestrich, a village in the Sauerland mountains of Nordrhein-Westfalen.After getting married in 1970, Ingrid and her American husband settled in New Jersey in the United States of America. When their son left for college, the couple moved to a small farm where they maintain several alpacas and a farm store. Ingrid became an American citizen but kept in close contact with her German family members. She wrote A German Childhood-In the Shadows of World War II for all readers who are curious about the lives of ordinary men, women, and children during extraordinary times in history.
