He received his Ph.D. in Physics from Meerut University in 1990. He has published more than 270 papers in international journals and conference proceedings and is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal "MAPAN -Journal of Metrology Society of India," published by Springer. He is reviewer of many reputed journals including Measurement Science and Technology, Metrologia, Measurement, Review of Scientific Instruments etc.
