This is a thirty-page essay, or short story, that looks at the dangerous situation that Earth is in now due to humanity's lack of concern about the prospects of a major global disaster. We look at the prospect of the Earth being hit by a large asteroid and the idea that there might be another major ice age about to occur on the Earth. The impetus in writing this short story is to prepare people for the idea of funding the construction of a fleet of large spaceships. These large ships will enable mankind to defend the Earth from potential Earth-colliding asteroids; and to start the process of space exploration, which will eventually lead to the terraforming of planets within this solar system and elsewhere. This is part of a greater work called The Outer Realm
