In this book Philip Trevasco, an Edinburgh archaeologist, and Rosalind Bernaud, an Australian artist, meet again on the excavation of Ayios Petros, a beach promontory in northern Cyprus. An amber ring discovered by Philip guides Rosalind into the dark world of Comtesse Marie during the collapse of the Crusader kingdoms of Outremer. How are the Knights Templar and ancient Aphrodite linked? Can Philip and Rosalind find the tainted treasure in the `High Temple of the Air'? Will they and their rekindled romance survive as war takes over the island?
