"In a society where the color of her eyes is thought evidence of evil, a young girl has to figure out how to let go of her differences and embrace who she is. The differences and similarities of this society to our own are very well played out, and I love how Naomi used the curse to exemplify little things that we may do/say as Christians that are not acceptable to our society. We have to accept the fact that we are not the same, just as Alyssia must accept the fact that she's different for a reason.
