This book is the second in the series written by Gramma Golden. In the previous book, Bird Lady was hopeful she would once more see her two colorful friends who taught her so many valuable lessons about gardening.
The main characters in the series, Mort and Ort Aahkamort, suddenly surprise Bird Lady on a beautiful beach. While there, they teach her new lessons about harmful effects on marine wildlife and shorebirds caused by litter and plastics carelessly left scattered on the beach. Once Bird Lady learns about these harmful effects, she makes it her mission to educate others. You will meet two new characters, Pete the Pilot and Ebenezer, her giraffe walking stick, as they join her on her journey.

Janet Golden is a retired registered nurse and healthcare educator. Her career required her to teach others how to care for themselves and others. She is a hospice volunteer and a certified representative of the State of Illinois Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. As an author, she strives to teach young readers to care for and be responsible stewards of the environment. It is through her voice that the characters from her first book come alive, helping children understand their role in maintaining the balance of nature. Janet understands the importance of all grade levels of education, starting with providing a solid foundation at the elementary level. This book offers parents and teachers a tool to teach children how to help marine wildlife thrive.
