Sir John Rhys published several books on the Celts in the late nineteenth century. Among his most famous works are Lectures on the Origin and Growth of Religion as Illustrated by Celtic Heathendom, Celtic Folklore, and Studies in the Arthurian Legend. He was a professor of Celtic studies and principal of Jesus College in Oxford.
