Jessica Wertz is a recovering addict and outcast at Cherry Hill High School. Burdened with constant reminders of her own mistakes, she finds comfort behind the lens of her camera. When she photographs a strange girl at the library bridge, a girl who drowned 150 years ago, her life takes an unexpected turn. Upon investigation, Jessica discovers a deeper truth, one that will take her far from home and fighting for her life and the lives of the friends she was never meant to know.
In Book 3 of the Cherry Hill series, the dark past of the quiet up north tourist town is revealed. Can Jessica and her friends prevent the past from catching up with their town and bringing with it the evil that all had thought lost to history? Only time—and the truth—will tell.
But this is what I've wanted to do since I was in the 7th grade, when I wrote a short story about a werewolf (we weren't into zombies yet...it was the 80s). My English teacher read it aloud to the class, which was really cool. After I got beat up by the stoners and stalked by a kid who wore a Superman cape to junior high school (and who managed not to get beat up), I shelved my dream for a more respectable career. First in the navy, then as an engineer. It's taken me 20 years to figure out that I don't get to drive a train, so it's back to writing.
Here's some boring facts: I live in Michigan. I'm married to an astoundingly patient woman. I have two kids who were still teens when I began my first YA novel, but are teens no longer. Like most writers, I have genre-ADD. I've tried several. After reading other middle-aged male YA authors who are not getting beat up by stoners (as far as I know), I decided to take the plunge. I've been told I think like a 14 year-old boy, so it comes naturally.
So that's me. I love hearing from my readers. Really, we authors don't have a social life. It's just you and the cat sitting on our keyboards. Drop me an email\text\IM. God bless and thanks for joining me on my journey.
