Jazz Age violinist, Rachelle Dalcassain's world of concerts and endless soirées is turned upside down when she's put upon to do the impossible and a most irksome task: kidnap twenty-something, Henry Pryce, a most loathsome 21st century man and spirit him back to 1920's Chicago. For what reason? It's a mystery to her. Empowered by a magical letter that literally fell out the blue into her mansion's foyer, she begins her journey anew. Once she abducts her target, she has only a few hours to accomplish her mission. Unbeknownst to them, death lurks near.
Meanwhile, back in Chicago, Miss Dalcassain, sets about to avenge her assistant, Paige Hopkins. The horrific deed visited upon her by slum lord, Charles L. Whitmore, must be repaid by this former WWI ambulance driver. The carnage she'd witnessed had changed her; she knew, into something dark, especially when her best friend, Nurse Michele Whitt, was blown to pieces. Dalcassain's act of violence has far reaching effects that she couldn't have fathomed.
