Manufacturing technologies have advanced at a rapid pace bringing in cost effectiveness through efficiency improvement in processing, material use and the energy consumption. A combination of the three is improving the cost effectiveness for manufacturing process at a rapid pace. It has also been observed that the modern artificial intelligence is contributing in a big way in ensuring quality production and lowering production cost. The book is a compilation of contributions from various participants to the 13th Convention of Mechanical Engineers, hosted by The Institution of Engineers (India), Delhi State Centre, during November 6-8, 1997 at New Delhi.
