Autoren-Porträt von Nathan C. Walker
Nathan C. Walker is a Unitarian Universalist minister whose preaching has received international attention. Walker's sermons and research on religious freedom as a fundamental human right were presented at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. His sermon on the intersection of religion and politics became the basis for Whose God Rules? Is the United States a Secular Nation or a Theolegal Democracy? (Palgrave Macmillan 2011). Tony Blair wrote the foreword, and Dr. Cornel West referred to the book as "provocative and pioneering." As a preacher committed to address the moral issues of our time, Walker created a sermon on the ethics of biotechnology that resulted in a yearlong dialogue with executives at Monsanto. In 2009 he delivered the John Murray Distinguished Lecture, which recounted his successful mediation between members of a controversial punk band, local skinheads, and Department of Homeland Security officials. Walker served as a resident fellow at Harvard Divinity School and received his Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York. He is currently completing his doctorate in law, education, and religion at Teachers College Columbia University, where he received his Master of Arts and Master of Education degrees in higher education administration and finance. He currently teaches in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Rowan University, and in June 2014, he joined the Religious Freedom Center of the Newseum Institute in Washington, D.C., as Strategy and Development Consultant.
