This book concerns the Pottery Riots of 1842, which developed into the General Strike. This isnt a history book, but its history turned into a gripping novel. Jane finds herself whisked back into 1842 after seeing a ghostly figure running away from the Ash Hall Nursing Home, where she worked.
In 1842, she finds herself working for Job Meigh, the entrepreneur pottery master who built Ash Hall. He was a violent Victorian who maimed his wife and possibly killed someone else in his workforce but was a great philanthropist to the outside world and a magistrate. He and industrialist pottery and mine owners had grown rich from the labours of their workers, who were driven to starvation when their pay was cut. The Chartists wanted to get the Peoples Charter approved by Parliament to offer the people, among other requests, representation in Parliament and the vote. This was rejected, resulting in the violent pottery riots.
Jane has to discover why she has been sent back into the pastpossibly to help Job Meighs wife or possibly for involvement with the riotswhich will lead her into life-threatening danger. In any case, she has to find out who the ghostly figure was.
Will she get back to her own time? Youll have to read to see.

Autoren-Porträt von Margaret Moxom
I am now retired, living in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands district of England. I have spent most of my working life, in London, mainly as a secretary, ending my career working for the NHS in a mental health hospital. I have a teaching certificate in German and Art. I lived in Ostend, Belgium for four years, between 1989 and 1993, having bought a public house, and regularly spoke French and Dutch while there. On returning to England I wrote a book of my experiences in Ostend Escape from Reality, and also a couple of short stories based on a private eye living in Ostend. These are entitled Kerry and Danii. For most of my life I have produced paintings in oil, most of which have been commissioned and sold, and I have had various exhibitions. My art website is: maggiemoxom.artweb.com.
