Ellen Bryant Lloyd is a children's book author that brings a unique background to the publishing industry, with extensive experience in writing, sales, marketing, and promotion. Ellen began her career in the newspaper industry where she worked in retail advertising, real estate publication development and marketing management. Ellen continued her career in publishing by founding Butterfly Creations, Inc., the publisher of her picture books, Freckles® and Freckles® and the Great Beach Rescue. The latter title is the recipient of multiple awards including the Mom's Choice Award, Moonbeam Children's Book Gold Award, USABookNews.com Best Books Award, Eric Hoffer Awards Notables Book and the Indie Excellence in Publishing Award. Ellen has always been active in her community, and has an affinity for organizations and causes that support or benefit children. She has served on the Board of Directors of the local chapter of Parents as Teachers, completed two terms on the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Alumni Board of Directors, serving one year as Vice President, and two terms on the Board of Trustees of her children's school. She was also honored to serve as a judge for the Mom's Choice Awards. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and Independent Book Publishers Association. For eight years Ellen was a member of the SCBWI: Carolinas Steering Committee, serving one year as the annual conference coordinator.
