I was saved from a life of drifting, street walking, a lady of the night, dope seller, drug user, and being locked away in jails and prisons. I tried to take my own life then hurricane Katrina almost killed me.

Autoren-Porträt von Lena A. Barlow
I was born 05-30-1957 in Marks, Miss to Betty Powell and Clinton Davis. They were both teenagers when I was born. My mother was 15 and my father was 17. Two weeks after I was born my mother left the state of Ms. she left me and my father behind. A couple weeks after my mother leaving my father left, but she left me in good hands with my god-mother Middie Clark. I knew nothing about my mother until I was 4 years old. While growing up in the hands of my god-mother thinking she was my mother. Until one day my biological mother appeared out of nowhere, my god-mother sat me down and explained that Betty was my real mother and she loved me dearly. I was in a twilight zone thinking no, no, no, theres no way she is my real mother but it was true. She asked me to come home with her but I wouldn't go anywhere. My mother came back and forth from Chicago to Mississippi until I got used to her being my real mother. I finally decided I was safe to go a few places with her. She finally took me to see my father he was in prison, she also took me to Chicago to meet my two brothers Eugene and Anthony. That was awesome to me because I thought I was the only child.
