Dan is a native of Mississippi, being born in Hattiesburg having grown up in Agricola. He holds the Doctor of Ministry degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, a Ph. D. degree from California Graduate School of Theology in Glendale, California, and the Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, California, for a year and graduated from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with a B.A. degree.
He has been married to his wife Janice for 42 years. They have two daughters Krista and Kimberly living in Texas and Oregon. Dan is an active contributor to blog sites and publications with various articles. He is a regular contributor to "SBC Today" with many articles on biographies, sermons and topical studies. He is an avid bicyclist and an instructor in indoor cycling (spin class) at several local gyms.
Dan has been active in the Southern Baptist Convention denominational structure, serving on the Board of Trustees at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and as National Alumni Chairman for New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana.
