William Clayton Storrick was born in 1856 in Straban Township, Pennsylvania. After more than thirty years as a schoolteacher, he took a job as concierge of South Cavalry Field for the National Park Commission. His later success as a battlefield guide prompted his promotion to Superintendent of Guides in 1917.
