An outstanding young lady amateur golfer also enters the tournament, playing as a professional in an era in which it was highly unusual for a woman to compete with the men.

John B. Nanninga has played golf for about seventy years, passing through the persimmon era to the modern era of metal woods. For most of this time, his handicap was fourteen but has recently risen to eighteen, partly because of COVID-19.
