The twentieth century marked the beginning of a major literary renaissance, one of its most prominent manifestations of poetry, and two poets from Egypt have undertaken that renaissance; "Ahmed Shawky" was the Prince of Poets and Poets, and "Hafez Ibrahim" was able to take a distinguished position among the poets of his time until the title of "poet of the Nile", and both poets revived Arabic poetry, and in response to his activity and outlook. Taha Hussein has tackled to criticize their poetry, and his status, which he deserved, and although his relationship with "Ahmed Shawky" was not good, he tried to abide by impartiality and fairness; His book came as a honest criticism of these two flags of Arabic literature, noting the mistakes they made, even if he did not deny their place and their role in Arabic poetry.
