His research topics are fibre characterisation, natural fibres, fibre surface modification, natural fibre-reinforced plastics and biocomposites. He is member of the DIN standardisation committee NA 005-11-42 AA particle measurement and of the European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing (ETP).
