Autoren-Porträt von Renate Doost-Schneider
Born in Berlin. Germany, in 1936, Renate Doost-Schneider immigrated to the USA in 1955 with her mother and brother. While working in an office in New York City she also studied theatre arts. Employed as a set designer in summer stock near Albany, New York she met her future husband. They married in 1961 and moved to Connecticut. She and her husband started two community theatres while supporting themselves with office work. While raising her daughter Doost-Schneider returned to work and to school, earning her BA in English in 1976 and her MLS in 1979. She was employed at the Groton Public Library for 26 years and also pursued a career as a storyteller.
