Jiang Zemin obituary: "Chinese leader who oversaw economic growth and a stable relationship with the US, and encouraged his country to enter the world"
In his parting speech, at the 16th party congress in November 2002, Jiang completed the dismantling of Maoist China begun by his patron Deng Xiaoping, when he formally invited China's "new social strata" - private entrepreneurs, employees of foreign firms and the self-employed - to join the party.
There was no more talk of the "ultimate goal of communism": the guiding ideology instead was Jiang's much vaunted and awkwardly phrased doctrine of the Three Represents.
Jiang's more consensual approach to internal political life now seems very distant from the assertive and increasingly repressive rule of the current leader, Xi Jinping. The stable relationship that Jiang achieved with the US, already weakened, was further weakened by growing mistrust on both sides over a host of issues including Taiwan, the South China Sea and lack of Human Rights in China.
Jiang is survived by his wife, Wang Yeping, whom he married in 1949, and their sons, Mengheng and Mengkang.
Jiang Zemin, politician, born 17 August 1926; died 30 November 2022.
So we wish to express our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Jiang Zemin, who was a great statesman and peacemaker.
President Clinton also praised Jiang as a man who 'can imagine a future that is different from the present.'
Jiang's more consensual approach to internal political life now seems very distant from the assertive and increasingly repressive rule of the current leader, Xi Jinping.
So we would like to encourage President Xi Jinping to take the great legacy of Jiang Zemin as an example, and contribute to manifest Peace and Prosperity in the International Community - in particular Korea and Taiwan.
Indeed, President Xi Jinping recently told Kim Jong Un that he was willing to work with the North Korean leader for world peace - which I'm sure President Xi will do :)

Autoren-Porträt von Mark O'Doherty
Attn: President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, Intelligence Chief Chen Wenqing, General Wei Fenghe, Admiral Wang Hai REGARDING: Implementing Basic Human Rights in China.
Dear Sirs,
As introduction it suffices to say that I am the chairperson of BTB-Global Peacebuilding, a NGO which aims to promote human rights and social cohesion. We would like to help you to implement democracy in China; so that basic human rights and civil liberties can finally be manifested in the People's Republic of China.
There are certainly some very positive aspects about China. It's just that China is not a perfect society. And just like any other human society - like America, Russia and Europe, for example - Chinese society needs a bit of fixing.
It is important to emphasize, that social change is inevitable and part of human evolution. I think that China is a great country. For example, China has mastered very well the philosophy of Yin and Yang: These two opposites being interrelated in a polar, but also complimentary way.
The dynamic interplay of Yin and Yang is the essence of all natural phenomena and all human situations. Things derive their being and nature by human dependence and are nothing in themselves. The universe is one indivisible, dynamic whole, whose parts are essentially interrelated and can only be understood as patterns of a cosmic whole.
In other words, China cannot exist alone. China also needs to interact with the rest of the International Community. This also means adopting mainstream policies that are essential when conducting business and commerce with the rest of the world; such as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which China should finally honor and ratify - just like all other countries who have ratified this very important international agreement, that ensures civil rights and human rights are upheld in a civilised country.
Then there is also the matter of Hong Kong. President Xi could quickly and humanely

solve the political crisis in China; by finally implementing democracy and civil liberties in China - since the Spirit of Democracy is here to stay, and will remain in the hearts of the brave people of China forever.
Hence we are encouraging the government of China to implement civil liberties and democracy in China; so that the harmonious synergy between Yin and Yang can be restored in China, as well as with the International Community.
