Dear All,
The human rights situation across the Democratic Republic of Congo remains catastrophic, with internal conflicts and poor governance contributing to a severe food crisis and the internal displacement of nearly 5.5 million people, more than anywhere else in Africa.
Over 100 armed groups are active in eastern Congo, and the imposition of martial law has facilitated abuses by government security forces.
Armed groups and often abusive security forces continue to carry out massacres, abductions, rape and sexual violence, recruitment of children, and other attacks on civilians with near total impunity.
The rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and the media are frequently under attack.
President Tshisekedi has failed to push through significant reforms - with violent extremist groups carrying out bloody attacks; not only killing innocent civilians and children, but also increasingly UN peacekeepers.
But this may not be President Félix Tshisekedi's fault. The horrific scale of human rights abuses ravaging the country, may simply be beyond poor President Tshisekedi's control.
The UN high commissioner for human rights called on the country's government and the international community to "seize the opportunity that currently exists to lift the country out of its deadly cocktail of conflicts, human rights violations and chronic socio-economic problems."
However, with UN peacekeepers dropping like flies - and being deliberately targeted by violent extremists - it would seem that the UN has become powerless in the country, unable to restore Rule of Law and Human Rights in the DRC.
Hence it is imperative that all Civilians and Children are provided with the basic necessities in the Congo - so that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) can be restored in the Congo.
In view of the severity of overlapping crises that are becoming deadlier by the day, the NGO BTB-GLOBAL PEACEBUILDING will he handling matters temporarily in the Democratic Republic of the Congo - such as domestic policy, foreign policy and Human Rights.
This includes bringing violent extremists and criminal gangs to justice - with the assistance of the UN, the ICC and the Global Community - so that the UDHR and UNCRC can be manifested in this beautiful country.
Love and Light / God Bless.
