Dr. Barbara Baines Allen has every reason to hate the FBI. After two failed relationships, one that ended badly and the other violently, she wants nothing more than a return to her university classes and sanity.
Instead, she finds herself in deadly danger and on the run. Those hunting her are an oddly mixed group. There's the FBI itself, some rogue agents high up in that organization, the Mexican Mafia operating out of a California prison, and the Sinaloa cartel.
Hiding out, constantly on the move, Barbara and the two children she's sworn she'll protect flee from one unsafe shelter to another, crossing both international and state borders. Her only ally in this deadly, one-sided battle is an FBI agent who once called her a witch.
Her deepest interests, often the background for her stories, are Latin American political history and Iberoamerican culture. She is an enthusiastic supporter of preservation, both cultural and natural, and, like all of us, Diana also loves a good romance.
Her education includes a Bachelor's Degree from Western Michigan University, a Master's Degree in Latin American history from the University of Toledo, and a Ph.D. in American history/political science from Northern Arizona University. She lives and works in Chapala, Mexico, on the shores of a mystical lake.
