In the late nineties the author wrote a weekly newspaper article entitled Is This a Bible Story? in the hoping the stories might nudge readers to open a bible on a spiritual quest. I Didnt Know That! Or; What The..? has expanded on the earlier accounts explored in the weekly news articles.

Allen L. Heckman served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973. From 1970 to 1973 he was assigned to the USS Fortify MSO 446 as a Sonar Technician Third Class. Today he is a retired Air Force Chaplain with 22 years of military service including the four Navy years. He is an ordained pastor in the United Church of Christ with 36 years of ministry background. His pastoral leadership includes being Senior Pastor of three local churches in Pennsylvania. As an Air Force Chaplain he has served in six states and four countries. He has been engaged in the Vietnam Conflict and Desert Storm. Heckman has been married to the former Mary Jane Hicks for thirty-eight years. They have one daughter and one grandson.
