It all ends, as all Glynis’ books do, with the girls firmly wearing trousers, boys wearing skirts. Reluctantly perhaps at first, happy in the end! A tomboy is sent, against her will, to a convention for Drum Majorettes by her aunt, with her two yobbish brothers. They’re delighted at the chance to gawp up the skirts of the girls; she soon devises a plan to humble the boys. She gets them kitted out and trained as majorettes, whilst she dresses as a boy, with the drums. As a result of her scheming and the unwitting help of her aunt and other ladies, she finally goes home as a boy, with two new girlie ‘sisters’. Once Jamie was stuck in the barn trapdoor his fate was sealed; Jamie to Janey, Glynis to Glyn ...
