After his election, Windrip takes complete control of the government and imposes a plutocratic/totalitarian rule with the help of a ruthless paramilitary force, in the manner of Adolf Hitler and the SS. In the aftermath of the current presidential election in USA, the novel has regained its stature among the dystopian classics and has been lauded for its visionary outlook and the obvious tale of caution.
Sinclair Lewis (1885-1951) was an American novelist, short-story writer, and playwright. In 1930, he became the first writer from the United States to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. His works are known for their insightful and critical views of American capitalism and materialism between the wars as well as his strong characterizations of modern working
