Autoren-Porträt
Professor Celal Şimşek studied Archaeology at the Faculty of Science and Arts at Selçuk University, Turkey, before going on to complete his Master's and PhD Studies at the Institute of Social Sciences at the same university. He worked as an archaeologist at the museums of Adıyaman and Denizli from 1988 to 1997, before founding the Institute of Archaeology at the Faculty of Science and Arts at Pamukkale University, Turkey, of which he is currently Director. He is also the Chair of the Archaeology Department at Pamukkale University, and has directed excavations and restorations at the ancient city of Laodikeia on the Lykos since 2003.Professor Francesco D'Andria teaches Archaeology and History of Greek and Roman Art at the University of the Salento, Lecce, Italy, where he also headed the School of Specialisation in Archaeology. He set up the archaeological parks of Cavallino, Acquarica, Vaste, and Castro in the Salento, and founded the Institute for Archaeological and Monumental Heritage of the Italian National Research Council in 2000. He has served as the Director of the Italian Archaeological Mission in Hierapolis in Turkey since 2000, and has authored numerous scholarly articles and books.
