Gerhard lives in Pietarsaari, in the Swedish-speaking part of Finland, and Laura in Sao Paulo, Brazil. They eventually get married. She also writes about her love towards the family she brings up with her husband and her darkest days experiencing severe culture shocks and prejudice.
