Leading Schools of Thought in Contemporary China offers a close-up look of eight major schools of thought that swept across China between 1978 and 2008, ranging from Deng Xiaoping's thoughts to Neo-Confucianism. Ma Licheng has been deputy director of the Department of Commentary, China Youth Daily, commentator for People's Daily and Phoenix TV, Visiting Researcher, Tokyo University and Visiting Scholar, National University of Singapore. His main research interest is China's reform, and he has authored or co-authored sixteen books, including Crossing Swords, Who Will You Vote For?, Major Breakthrough and Thirty Years of Crossing Swords. Some of these titles have also been published abroad. Thirty Years of Crossing Swords won the National Library of China's Wenjin Book Award, one of China's most prestigious book awards, in 2009.
