Delfin or Del among his acquaintances had been an exporter of footwear and children dresses to US, UK, South Africa and New Zealand. Before migrating to the US, he was importing footwear machineries representing a company from Bremen, Germany. From 1975 to 1985, he represented Oriental Trading Corporation a subsidiary of Suave Shoe Corporation, a publicly traded shoe company in US during that period. He started his own business at a time when the US companies were out sourcing their consumable wares to China.Prior to being a businessman, he was a classroom teacher. His career turned around after he was awarded a scholarship grant under the United Nations Economic Assistance in the Far East in 1969-70. He took up Footwear and Leather Goods manufacture in Chennai, India and had toured all Industrial Estates of India. It was during this tour that he became interested in export.
