Out of Brooklyn, but still in New York, Lil’ G is feeling the pressures of a new neighborhood, a new shelter, and a new school. When he begins to wonder if he’ll ever make a new friend, a crash encounter with Jon Jon — a rule-breaking gentle giant from a troubled home — suddenly changes everything. But Jon Jon thinks he’s good at nothing, so Lil’ G shares his ninja skills and teaches Jon Jon that, in order to win life’s battles, he must first win the battle in his mind. But Jon Jon is hiding a secret, and that secret is running out of time! Enjoy sharing this faith based version with your family, friends, church, and Christian youth group.
Autoren-Porträt von Glenn Toby, Brian Gocher
During the early 1980s, the cultural phenomenon of hip-hop burst onto the scene and right alongside it, Glenn Toby grabbed the mic and spit more than just a verse or two. Known then as "Sweety G", Toby began his career rhyming with industry legends like Doug E. Fresh, Biz Markie, Treacherous 3, Boogie Boys, Cipher Sounds, Disco Twins, Stetsasonic, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Kurtis Blow and, of course, Run DMC.When asked about his passage through childhood struggles, Toby replied, "One day I came home from school to find the landlord had evicted us. All our belongings - clothes, books, toys - were strewn in the street. Suddenly, we were homeless. For a long time we rotated among relatives, staying here and there for as long as we could. It was a frightening time for me and my siblings, but it also taught us an enormous lesson in genuine character development and personal integrity." This tumultuous time in Toby's life inspired great personal growth and launched him onto a journey through multiple successful careers ranging from performer to entrepreneur, power agent, and author.
Over his expansive career, Toby earned the trust of more than 50 NFL players such as Asante Samuel, Josh Evans, Damien Robinson, and Chester Taylor. Never forgetting his first love, Toby still finds time to shape and foster the musical careers of artists such as Saigon, Tru Life, and Q Da Kid.
In 1997, Toby started a non-profit charity called The Book Bank Foundation. Its mission is to promote and advocate for literacy by providing books and other literature to underprivileged children and adults. Since then, the mission has expanded to include challenges such as providing underprivileged children and their families with resources for combating abuse, hunger, and homelessness.
With the eradication of illiteracy embedded in Toby's heart, authoring a children's book was the obvious next step. In 2012, Toby published Lil' G faces the Brooklyn Bully and spoke freely

about the title character: "Lil' G is based on my life and experiences growing up in Brooklyn. Lil' G finds himself homeless and having to contend with a school bully. With his mother's inspiration and the power of faith, Lil' G pushes, perseveres, and finds solutions to all his challenges."
In his latest literary venture (December 2016), Toby joined forces with co-author, illustrator, and fellow New Yorker, Brian Gocher. Together, Toby and Gocher have introduced a slightly older Lil' G to former fans and new readers alike in an exciting graphic novel series titled Lil' G & The Dirty Faced Angels. The first issue finds Lil' G at a new school with no friends or familiar comforts, but after a chance encounter with a gentle giant named Jon Jon, Lil' G finds that his life's challenges are best met with friends by his side.
"We write these books to tackle vital issues in stories that kids can read, re-read, and grow from." -Glenn Toby
Brian Gocher, born and bred in New York City, is the co-author and illustrator of the new and exciting children's graphic novel series titled Lil' G and the Dirty Faced Angels. For almost two decades, Gocher has been a successful music composer for innumerable Hollywood blockbuster film trailers (The Avengers, Iron Man, Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows), television shows (Game of Thrones, True Detective), and studio albums for a myriad of Christian artists (Stephen Curtis Chapman, The Newsboys, Superchick) including Grammy award-winning pop star Toby Mac. Writing to entertain and inspire children to make positive and powerful changes in the way they see themselves is a natural extension of Gocher's faith combined with a lingering love for the thousands of comic books he disappeared into as the only child of a struggling single mom. Brian Gocher currently lives in central New Jersey with his wife and their two children.
