James Eugene KleinAuthor Biography
The author of Lucifer's Catechism was born on August 14, 1945; the day that World War II ended in the Pacific. He was raised in a family of mixed religious heritage, Protestant and Roman Catholic. He was educated in a Roman Catholic grammar school and then at Loyola High School in Los Angeles California. He then attended UCLA where he majored in Astronomy and Physics. After graduating with his B.A. Degree in Astronomy-Physics, he attended the United States Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I. where he received his commission as an Ensign in the United States Naval Reserve. After serving his active duty period during the Vietnam War, left as a Lieutenant Junior Grade and entered the California State University at Los Angeles where he majored in Physics with a specialization in Optics. He received a Master's degree in Physics in 1973.
He taught high School Physics and Chemistry at JUNIPERO SERRA High School in Gardena California during 1976-1977. He then began a 30 year career as a Physicist and Optical Design Engineer at Hughes Aircraft Company and TRW.
After retirement in 2007, Mr. Klein became an author specializing philosophical thought. Mr. Klein's first book, "Lucifer's Catechism" is intended to illuminate how each of us is capable of Thinking for Ourselves rather than believing what others tell is true and what must be believed. Lucifer's Catechism exemplifies by contrast, the difference between believing the things we are told to believe and believing what we find through our personal experience what we want to believe.
Mr. Klein is now writing his second book, "The Happy Child" which is intended to illuminate to both adults and children how they can best live happy and self rewarding lives.
