Produktinformationen zu „The Vision of God (ePub)“
This is the only known comparative study of Cusa's Vision of God treatise, using the available English scholarly presentations on this work.
NICHOLAS OF COSA holds a place as one of the great teachers of the contemplative life. Like his great master, St. Augustine, he teaches almost entirely by example and allusion. Man, he believed, can comprehend God's inner being, which he characterized as a coincidence of opposites, only by a "learned ignorance" transcending his rational understanding.
Evelyn Underhill, the noted writer on mysticism, has written an introduction to The Vision of God that will increase the reader's understanding of the rapture and confidence of its wonderful soliloquies, which are all the more striking seen against the background of the incessant and largely disheartening struggle to which their writer was committed.
This is a must read treatise on the subject.
A Cologne Series Volume.
