Varla Ventura is the author of The Book of the Bizarre and Beyond Bizarre, and a lover of all things strange, freaky, and terrifying. She is the curator of the Weiser Magical Creatures and Paranormal Parlor series of e-books. Visit her at the Blog of the Bizarre: http://varlaventura.wordpress.comT. Crofton Croker (1798-1854) An Irish antiquary as well as a writer, Croker devoted his life to the collection of Irish poetry and folklore. His Researches in the South of Ireland went through six editions and was translated into German by the Bros Grimm.
W.B. Yeats (1865 –1939) A famed Irish poet and playwright, Yeats was a central pillar of the Irish Literary Revival and a winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1923. He is perhaps best known for works written after he received this award: The Tower (1928) and The Winding Stair and Other Poems (1929). It is interesting to note that Yeats was involved in establishing the Dublin Hermetic Order, acting as its chairman in 1885. This led to his involvement with the Theosophical Society and his interest in hermeticism, most notably with the Rosicrucianism of the Golden Dawn.
