Produktinformationen zu „Managing the Spiritual Neighborhood (ePub)“
Managing the Spiritual Neighborhood unravels the tangle of opinions, policies and ideology to reveal the essence of divinely inspired administration. A gritty work, but also deeply philosophical, it takes the reader on two parallel journeys: superficially through a crime-plagued DC suburb, but more substantially along a logical path that bridges the cosmic divide between reason and real-world experience. The author delves into regions that conventional wisdom and conventional political science rarely touch, connecting the wisdom of the ancients to the mundane reality of life in modern America. More than abstract rhetoric, the book offers a concrete plan of action that will carry communities and society as a whole to a new paradigm of politics, law, and justice.
Autoren-Porträt von Alexander Gabis
Alexander Gabis is an east-coast transplant living in the Heartland of America. His education and professional experience was in mathematics and computer science - working for federal contractors in the suburbs of Washington, DC., but his true passion was in applying analytical skills developed as a programmer to real-world, real-community issues. As a homeowner for 17 years in an attractive middle-class neighborhood in Camp Springs, Maryland, he became the de facto "mayor" of a 550-home subdivision, which was plagued by juvenile crime through the 90s and into the 2000s. The principles developed during this time were equally relevant to the quality of life in a much different environment: Fairfield, Iowa, a small town situated in the midst of Iowa's corn fields. Under the guidance of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Gabis spent four years as a paid, professional peace-maker, meditating with a group of several hundred practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation technique on the campus of Maharishi University of Management, which hosted what became known as the "Invincible America Assembly" starting in 2006. He is currently putting together an intentional "neo-indigenous" community that will collaborate in constructing low-cost homes and committing to long-term cooperation, spiritual growth and stewardship of the land, while at the same time generating bottom-up back-pressure on a faltering top-down establishment.
