Produktinformationen zu „MELODY IN TEA (ePub)“
When Frances Whittier’s tea planter husband died, she lost all, for he left her in desperate circumstances. She returned to England from India in 1956 with a broken heart, no money and only memories of seven years filled with colour, warmth and plenty. Even if she had become unhappy with the enigmatic Alec whom she had married at the age of eighteen, she had loved India and felt the loss of her adopted country and her home very keenly.Having spent a great deal of her time alone while Alec was away, she’d had her strong Faith and her music to console her, especially a melody her grandmother used to play, the name of which she didn’t know, until a new tea planter arrived in Sundarpur. Hugh Anderson was also a pianist whose talent was in demand in the small community of ex-patriates.As Alec’s life had escalated into realms of grave risk, Hugh had helped Frances to find her way, but having lost India, she lost Hugh also. Will she ever find him, or happiness, again?
Autoren-Porträt von MARY FLANNERY
Mary aka Máire Flannery was born and has spent most of her life in Ireland. As a young nurse she lived in the charming town of Srimangal, Bangladesh, which was formerly East Pakistan. Srimangal is surrounded by Tea-Gardens and is right up against the Indian Assam border. She worked with the Irish Agency Concern Worldwide. Since 1995 she has lived with her husband Liam in the United States. Writing fiction most of her life (as a hobby) she uses her travels as background, and her characters love to go places. She likes them to experience new countries and new cultures and of course a new love. When she moved to the Pacific Northwest, she found herself living near the destination of the Oregon Wagon Trains and her imagination was captured, resulting in a historical novel.
She thinks of herself foremost as a Storyteller, in the great oral tradition of the Irish. Her writing style is natural and has been praised for clarity and wit. She is a Time Traveller Wannabee and as that is impossible, she likes to live for a while in a different Time through her reading and writing. She loves Jane Austen and reads Shakespeare for wonder and fun. She also writes Austenesque. Her constant wondering about what Jane Austen would think of her popularity today sparked a Time Travel novella.
She recently retired from forty years in Healthcare. She has a degree in Graphics Communications which is very useful for designing her books.
MELODY IN TEA is written in UK English, as she's more comfortable with that when the characters are English. Mary does happy endings! She writes clean and inoffensive material. She is Catholic and this comes out in her writing. She is self-published and enjoys the process of writing, designing and publishing from beginning to end.
