Misty May-Treanor was born in Los Angeles and grew up playing beach volleyball at the Santa Monica Pier with her parents, Butch and Barbara. Misty attended Long Beach State where she was a part of the 1998 NCAA Championship team and was awarded the NCAA Championship Co-MVP. She graduated with a BA in Kinesiology. Misty has gone on to a phenomenal beach volleyball career, in which she currently has the most wins of any female to ever play the sport. Along with Kerri Walsh, she captured her second Olympic Gold Medal at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. After Beijing, Misty competed on ABC's hit show ?Dancing with the Stars.? She is also an assistant coach at Irvine Valley Junior College. Misty currently splits time between Long Beach, Calif. and Coral Springs, Fla. with her husband, Detroit Tigers catcher Matt Treanor. She enjoys playing with her boxers Gruden and Boogie.

She graduated from Long Beach State, where she was a vital member of the 1998 NCAA Championship team and received the Honda-Broderick Award for the nation's collegiate female athlete of the year. After a brief stint with the U.S. national indoor team, she went on to revolutionize the sport of beach volleyball, becoming the best women's player ever. Misty currently splits time between California and Florida with her husband, Majoy League Baseball catcher Matt Treanor.Jill Lieber Steeg has been an award-winning senior writer at Sports Illustrated and USA TODAY.
