Pressezitat
'This collection covers some of the most recent economic and political thinking and analyzes of Taiwan's current and future position in Asia. The focus is on the growing Taiwan-China economic relationship. These heuristic chapters are written by specialists from Taiwan, the United States, Canada, and Europe. Taiwan's situation is pivotal to a peaceful and prospering Asia. This is an important book for anyone interested in Taiwan and the evolution of a tranquil Pacific basin.' Thomas J. Bellows, professor of Political Science, The University of Texas at San Antonio'This comprehensive, multidisciplinary, historically grounded, and very timely volume uses the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement between China and Taiwan to explore a range of issues affecting the signatories as well as the region as a whole. The dozen chapters by an international lineup of experts compel readers to rethink our understanding of topics such as sovereignty, identity, and security.' Thomas B. Gold, University of California, Berkeley
