However, with the help of her aunt Maria, Carina realizes that there is a world to explore right in Washington, DC. At the end of the story, as a new school year starts, Carina is excited to share her summer adventure that took place outside her bedroom walls.

She is an elementary school teacher, who has taught young children in grades 1-3 in the Washington, DC Public Schools System for several years. She has published the childrens book, BEWARE! THERES A BULLY IN ROOM 203! and has written the sequel to it. She has also written and published several poems.
