The Reivers is an acclaimed "e;Initiation Novel"e; of Faulkner. Lucius, the grandson of a banker, Hogganbeck, the driver, and Ned, a black servant, stole the grandfather's car and drove it to other place. They stayed in a brothel. Hogganbeck found a prostitute called Corrie. To help another black servant, Ned secretly traded the car for a horse, participated in the horse race with the horse and finally won back the car. Four days later, they came back home. Hogganbeck married Corrie. In the four-day adventure, Lucius, the 11-year-old leading character, not only realized people's kindness, compassion and care about each other, but also see the greed, cunning, baseness and corruption. In the conflict between virtue and non virtue, he had been tempered and become mature.
