Autoren-Porträt von Reece Pocock
ProfileReece Pocock was born in Adelaide, South Australia, where he now lives with his wonderful wife, Marilyn. His son and his wife, and their three gorgeous daughters live nearby.
As a very young man Reece joined the Army; his military service was all in Australia. He served at Kapooka in NSW, Puckapunyal in Vic, and Ingleburn in NSW where he served in the elite Field Force. This group had to be ready for deployment to trouble spots at short notice. However, during this time, this battle ready force was not required. He did however travel to North Queensland for an extensive exercise.
He jokingly comments that he never saw conflict other than in the various bars that he sometimes visited. However, a soldier was killed on an exercise in which he participated, giving him personal experience of the ephemeral nature of life.
After years in the Army, Reece enjoyed a business career in sales and management. He was instrumental in introducing the Bobcat skid steer loader to the South Australian market—this was one of the highlights of this career.
He studied from 2000 to 2003 to obtain his Advanced Diploma of Arts (Professional Writing). This experience had a profound influence on his life, opening up many opportunities and proved life changing.
As his life changed so too did his interests and career. He is currently employed as a finance broker, and now finds as much time as he possibly can to write.
It is now through his writing that Reece seeks success and he has achieved this to some measure but, as a writer he seeks more. He writes screen plays, adult crime stories and children’s books. He studied children's writing with Ian Bone, the well known writer for children, as his tutor.
History as a Writer
His feature film Script, The Soldiers, was optioned by a film producer who is working to put the finance and crew together to make the film. Reece’s experience in the Army and his half-brother’s experience in war zones—which are featured in the

film—allowed Reece to bring credibility to his script.
Reece's new screenplay, The Body on the Beach is being considered by a producer.
Reece has had about sixty articles published in, TheCheers, an on line magazine. This magazine has also published twelve of Reece’s short stories.
Two short stories, The Girl in the Red Beret, and What a Dirty Little Town, will soon be included in an anthology—The Killing Words—published by Crime-writers SA.
Recently, Reece won the City of Burnside Library crime short story contest, with his story, The Girl in the Red Beret. His Screenplay, The Soldiers, was highly commended in the Di Cranston award administered by the Fellowship of Australian Writers.
Reece has just completed work on a crime novel, Murder on Display, and is currently working on another crime novel. He is also writing children’s stories.
