There was a knock on the door and a guard came in. "The king will now see you" he said. I was lead out to a part of the castle I had not been in yet, the walls here where ornately decorated with small colored tiles in deep blues. At the end of the corridor was s large sturdy oak door. Two guards stood outside, on seeing me they opened the large door and I was lead inside. The guards left and closed the door behind me.
The room was candlelit by hundreds of small candles placed in nooks and on small tables around the room. In the centre was a table set for two. The candles flickered gently creating an intimate relaxed atmosphere. The room smelt faintly of cinnamon and oranges. Tilzer was seated at the table and rose at my arrival. He was wearing a well tailored suit of a style not from this time. Seeing my jaw slightly agape Tilzer said "I taught the craftsmen here a new trick or two".
Again my mind raced with fragments from old time travel movies. Was Tilzer being here going to cause some sort of change in the future? Teaching craftsmen how to make suits in a modern day style surely was going to change something in the future. I remembered something from an old science fiction movie about stepping on a butterfly in the past causing the dinosaurs to go extinct and man never existing. Maybe teaching the locals how to make a fine suit wasn't going to be as catastrophic. I still couldn't shake the idea that our being here was going to change the future.
"You look beautiful" said Tilzer snapping me out of my thoughts of cheesy science fiction movies. "Thank you, you look very handsome" I said. I wasn't going to let his easy charm work on me so I put on a slightly cool demeanor. "Please sit" he said, "food and drinks will arrive shortly". I blurted out "how the hell are you king around this place, good looks and charm will only get you so far". I could feel my face redden a little.
