Michael E. Grimes is retired from 28 years of service as a Federal Narcotics Agent having served with the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs and the Drug Enforcement Administration. During his career Mike served in the Washington, DC, field office and Wilmington, NC, with numerous TDY assignments in the States and abroad. He is a leading expert in the field of informant development and control, and is the author of A Guide for Developing and Controlling Informants, published by LawTech Publishing Co. He is president of Criminal Investigation Techniques, Inc.; a consulting firm dedicated to protecting officers through risk assessment audits and establishing standards for informant handling. Also during his career, Mike was a primary instructor in Federal, state, and local law enforcement academies for such topics as informant handling, report writing, and conducting asset forfeiture investigations. He has taught in over half of the states in the country. He has also lectured extensively in community colleges and universities, as well as for various State Narcotic Officers' Associations.
