Small Town narrates the story of a small town in Italy before the First World War: invited by Bellotti, the lawyer of this town, an opera troupe conduct the show after 48 years for the first time which made the residents eagerly awaited and impatient. But the progress was not satisfactory, and the different views on the performance issues showed: the lawyers representing the democratic forces advocated for performance with the belief that it will bring the town with vitality and business opportunities; on behalf of the conservative forces, Tang Taidaiao faction opposed the show with the thought that it will undermine the city's atmosphere and morality. Later, there were some unexpected situations happening: male citizens from this small town showed his affection to the female singer, the tenor from the troupe fell in love with city's most beautiful girl at first sight and the most important part was that the hidden contradictions in the small town were fully exposed out......but in the end the two opposing forces reach a reconciliation with Belotti's efforts and the performance has been a complete success, a few days later the troupe has also successfully left the town.
