The authors start reviewing the existing briquetting technologies, providing the reader later on with the specifics of stiff extrusion briquetting technology. Other aspects treated are the applications of extruded briquettes on blast furnace and for the production of manganese ferro alloys. The authors suggest stuff extrusion briquetting technology for direct reduction iron production and list several alternative unconventional applications.

Ivan Kurunov is the Chief Expert of the Ironmaking division in Novolipetsk Steel company, Russia. Until 2005 he was a Professor at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys.Aitber Bizhanov has a Ph.D. degree in the agglomeration of natural and anthropogenic materials in metallurgy. His research interests include recycling of metallurgical wastes.
