Found shackled to the timbers of a ship run aground in 1868, Fridrik had fortuitously come to Abba's rescue. The fates of all of these characters are intrinsically bound, and gradually, surprisingly, unravelled in this spellbinding fable that is part mystery, part fairy tale.

Victoria Cribb lived in Iceland for many years. She now lives in England, where she is completing a PhD in Old Icelandic Literature at the University of Cambridge. Her translations include three novels in collaboration with Olaf Olafsson, as well as numerous other pieces of fiction and non-fiction. She also translated Sjon's novella The Blue Fox published by Telegram in 2008.
