It is difficult to review this novella without giving away the plot, so I will just say that this story pits Walter Cravens, a white man from England caring only about the fame and fortune he hopes to acquire by killing African animals, and the wise elephant that Walter incorrectly believes that he is hunting. What follows is an intriguing look at the downfall of this selfish man whose greed ultimately leads to his worst nightmare.
